Services for Ida Strange Wallace, 96 of Hughes Springs will be 10 A.M. Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Veal Switch Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Roberts officiating. Burial will be in the Veal Switch Cemetery.
Ida was born on August 17, 1923 in Hughes Springs to Edmond Franklin and Rose Ella Strange and died on Sunday, May 17, 2020.
She was a charter member of Veal Switch Baptist Church and taught Sunday School and was in the Ladies Auxiliary. Ida took food and checked on the sick and shut ins. She was a member of the Eastern Star and served as a Candy Striper at Hospital In The Pines. She also was in the quilting club for ladies.
Ida married J D Wallace at the age of 16. She was known by her family as Moma Monk, a name given to her by her husband.
In heaven waiting are her parents, husband J D, granddaughter Dena Wallace, daughter Linda June Pickens and her husband Dewight, son J D (Dennis) Wallace, 6 sisters and 2 brothers.
Survived by her grandchildren Tad and Debbie Wallace of Daingerfield, Marty and Jasmine Wallace of Hughes Springs, David and Sunita White of San Antonio and Darrell White of Irving; great grandchildren Whitney Keel, Olivia Wallace, Mia Wallace and J D Wallace; great great granddaughter Adiline Kate Keel; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family will receive friends from 9 till 10 Wednesday at the church.
